The New York Islanders have placed forward Colin McDonald on waivers.
McDonald, 30, has appeared in two games this season, registering no points. He played 70 games in 2013-14, scoring eight times with 10 assists.
McDonald is a pending unrestricted free agent with a cap hit of $637,500.
No word yet what the Isles intend to do with McDonald should he clear waivers, but an eventual assignment to AHL Bridgeport would be a good guess.
The Islanders have one forward, Michael Grabner (sports hernia surgery), on injured reserve. Based on the original estimate of 4-6 weeks, he’s expected to be out a few weeks longer.
Lee had 3-2-5 in 5 games with Bridgeport. Wouldn't be surprised to see him start off on line w/Nelson and Strome tomorrow vs. Bruins.— Arthur Staple (@StapeAthletic) October 22, 2014
