Marc Savard still feeling effects of post-concussion syndrome

After the Bruins incredible exit from the playoffs last year it was assumed that center Marc Savard was healthy following his return to the team during the playoffs after suffering a concussion at the hands of Pittsburgh’s Matt Cooke. As it turns out, that may not be all too correct as Savard is still dealing with issues today and was held out from skating today due to post-concussion syndrome symptoms.

While it’s good to see they’re still proceeding cautiously with Savard, this makes you wonder just what in the world he was doing on the ice during the Bruins series with the Flyers. Obviously he was physically cleared, but when you’re still suffering from symptoms months upon months later, perhaps it’s just abundantly clear that we really have yet to fully understand what happens to people when suffering brain injuries. Any further lingering effects for Savard will make watching his progress this season a fascinating one. Suffice to say though, hearing this news isn’t inspiring for anyone to hear.
