Golf will return to the Olympics in 2016, but first it will be played at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

Michelle Wie, 24, was named a 2014 Youth Olympic Games ambassador Monday. Four years ago, she campaigned on behalf of her sport for inclusion into the Olympics at an International Olympic Committee session in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Golf, which was part of the Olympics in 1900 and 1904, was added to the Olympic program along with rugby sevens.

“I went to the London Olympic Games last year, and that really got me inspired,” Wie said, according to a press release. “It really got me motivated, and I’m going do everything I can. It’s one of my biggest focuses, making the American team for Rio.”

Wie has been a golf fixture since 2000, when she qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at 10 years old. She qualified for an LPGA event in 2002 and, in 2004, received a sponsor’s exemption into the PGA Tour’s Sony Open in Hawaii.

Wie is ranked No. 64 in the world and 13th among Americans. A country may qualify a maximum of four women into the 2016 Olympic golf tournament.
