STAMFORD, Conn. – June 9, 2022 – NBC Sports presents live coverage of two star-studded track & field meets this week, starting with the Diamond League series’ fifth event of the season in Rome, Italy, today, and concluding with the USATF NYC Grand Prix held at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island in New York City on Sunday. Both competitions will stream on Peacock, with the New York meet also being broadcast live on NBC.
ROME DIAMOND LEAGUE – TODAY, JUNE 9
Five-time Olympian and 11-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix is set to race in a star-studded 200 meters in what she says is likely the last Diamond League meet of her illustrious career. Meanwhile in the 800 meters, two-time Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu makes her international Diamond League debut just one day after celebrating her 20th birthday, while Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley is expected to compete in the 100 meters.
On the international side, the women’s 200 meters will feature the reigning Olympic champion, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah, and reigning world champion Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, as well as Tokyo Olympic 400 meter champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas. The meet is also expected to include Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Selemon Barega of Ethiopia and silver medalists Laura Muir of Great Britain and Mohammed Ahmed of Canada, among others.
NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event on CNBC, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and two-time Olympic marathoner Des Linden as analysts.

USATF NYC GRAND PRIX – SUNDAY, JUNE 12
World record holder and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin will be headlining two events, the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meters, as she prepares to defend her U.S. title later this summer in the 400-meter hurdles. Sha’Carri Richardson, fresh off a second-place finish in the 100 meters at the Prefontaine Classic on May 28, will face Tokyo Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas in the 100 meters.
The men’s 100 meters is sure to be thrilling too, as 2019 world champion Christian Coleman looks to keep the momentum going after his third-place finish at the Prefontaine Classic. Other Olympic medalists competing on Sunday include Noah Lyles, Grant Holloway, Clayton Murphy, and Michael Cherry, as well as Olympians Ajee’ Wilson, Bryce Hoppel, Devon Allen, and high school phenom Erriyon Knighton, who recently became the fourth-fastest man in history over 200 meters with his 19.49 mark in April.
NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross as analysts with Lewis Johnson as reporter.
