CONFERENCE FINALS VIEWERSHIP NOTES

Through three days, the Conference Final round of the 2013 NHL Playoffs on NBC Sports Network is +94% in average viewership compared to the same days last year (2,074,000 vs. 1,071,000).

SAT 6/1 NBC: BOSTON @ PITTSBURGH, GAME 1 (8P-11P)

  • Coverage of the Boston/Pittsburgh Conference Final Game 1 on NBC Saturday in primetime (8P-11P) delivered a 2.0 HH rating and 3.376 million viewers, making it the most-watched Conference Final game on NBC (since current coverage started in 2006), and the most-watched Conference Final game across both broadcast and cable in 11 years (since 5/29/02: Game 6, Detroit/Colorado on ESPN, 3.597 million).
  • The game was up 125% vs. Eastern Conference Final Game 1 last year (1.499, NYR/NJ).
  • The game peaked with over 4.1 million viewers (4.157) from 9:45P-10P.
  • NBC was the top-ranked broadcast network and second-highest overall (across broadcast and cable) for the night across Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.
  • Locally:

- Boston delivered a 19.6, the market’s best rating ever for a non-Stanley Cup game on NBC.

- Pittsburgh drew a 23.2.

SAT 6/1 NBC SPORTS NETWORK: LOS ANGELES @ CHICAGO, GAME 1 (5P-7:46P)

  • Game 1 of the Los Angeles/Chicago series on NBC Sports Network on Saturday (5P-7:46P) drew a 1.01 US HH rating and 1.624 million average viewers, up 47% from Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals last year (1.105, LA/Phoenix).

  • The game peaked with over 2.1 million viewers (2.106) from 7:15P-7:30P.

  • Among M18-49 and M25-54, NBC Sports Network ranked as the #2 most watched cable network from 5P-7:45P.

  • Locally:

- Chicago drew an 11.8, the highest local rating ever (at the time) in the market for an NHL Conference Final game on NBCSN. (eventually surpassed by Game 2, see below)

- Los Angeles drew a 2.1.

SUN 6/2 NBC SPORTS NETWORK: LOS ANGELES @ CHICAGO, GAME 2 (8P-10:46P)

  • Sunday’s game 2 of the Los Angeles/Chicago series on NBC Sports Network (8P-10:46P) drew a 1.17 US HH rating, 2.019 million average viewers, up 142% from Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals last year (0.835, LA/Phoenix).

  • The game peaked with over 2.3 million viewers (2.342) from 8:30P-8:45P.

  • Locally:

- Chicago drew a 16.6, the highest local rating ever in the market for an NHL Conference Final game on NBC Sports Network.

- The game was up 51% from the Blackhawks’ 2010 Conference Final average on NBC Sports Network in the market (11.0).

- Los Angeles drew a 2.3, up 5% from the Kings’ 2012 Conference Final average on NBC Sports Network in the market (2.2).

MON 6/3 NBC SPORTS NETWORK: BOSTON @ PITTSBURGH, GAME 2 (8P-10:45P)

  • With 2.601 million viewers, Game 2 of the Boston/Pittsburgh Series (8P-10:39P) was NBC Sports Network’s most-watched NHL Conference Final game ever, and the most-watched Conference Final game on cable since 2002 (5/31/02: Detroit/Colorado, ESPN, 3.036 million viewers).
    • The game drew a 1.46 US HH rating, 2.601 million average viewers, up 94% from Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals last year (1.342 million, New Jersey/NY Rangers).
      • The game peaked with over 3.1 million viewers (3.108) from 9:15P-9:30P.
      • NBC Sports Network was the third-most watched cable network in the 8P-10:45P time period among average viewers, and among Adults and Men 18-49 and 25-54.

  • Locally:

- Boston received a 23.36 HH rating, the highest local rating ever in the market for an NHL Conference Final game on NBC Sports Network.

- The game was +57% from the Bruins’ 2011 Conference Final average on NBC Sports Network in the market (14.87).

- NBC Sports Network was the #1 rated network overall in Boston during the 8-10:45P time period.

- Pittsburgh received a 19.91 HH rating.

- NBC Sports Network was the #1 rated network overall in Pittsburgh during the 8-10:45P time period.
