STAMFORD, Conn. – June 17, 2026 – NBC Sports’ comprehensive coverage of the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., begins tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, through Sunday, June 21, across NBC, Peacock, NBCSN, and USA Network.

In total, NBC Sports will present 175 hours of U.S. Open Championship coverage from Shinnecock Hills across NBC, Peacock and NBCSN, featuring 31 live championship hours, with Peacock streaming wall-to-wall coverage throughout championship week, including Featured Groups, Multiview and U.S. Open All Access. Sunday’s final round coverage will feature The Rolex Hour – Uninterrupted Coverage in partnership with Rolex for the final hour of golf on NBC and Peacock as a champion is crowned at Shinnecock.

NBC Sports will utilize approximately 90 cameras to present the 126th U.S. Open, including Emmy Award-winning drone tracing technology, a pair of additional drone cameras covering the action, and, beginning Friday, microphone-equipped caddie bibs designed to provide enhanced access to player-caddie discussions and on-course strategy.

Last week, NBC Sports play-by-play commentator Dan Hicks, analysts Kevin Kisner and Brad Faxon, and on course reporter Jim “Bones” Mackay previewed this week’s 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., on a media conference call. Below are excerpts from the call.

Hicks on returning to Shinnecock Hills: “Getting back to Shinnecock, it is without a doubt my favorite golf course in the country, one of my favorite in the world. So, it’s a real, real pleasure to get back there. I cannot wait to see how it plays this year. The weather is such a big deal there. It could change in just the blink of an eye, as we have seen in the past U.S. Opens. But that’s another reason which makes it so special.”

Kisner on what makes Shinnecock a true U.S. Open test: “I love the USGA’s philosophy of trying to get every club in the bag dirty. That is one of the things I think about when I go to a new golf course for the first time is if I hit every golf club. And that’s what they’re trying to accomplish here at Shinnecock by giving guys options around the greens with many different clubs... I think Shinnecock is going to shine in 2026.”

Faxon on why Shinnecock is the ideal U.S. Open venue: “I think this has to be the best venue for a U.S. Open for so many different ways... I love how this course doesn’t favor any one particular player or style. You have to have every club in the bag. You have to have the patience because everybody’s going to get some incredible bounces and bad breaks... I think it’s going to be one of the best U.S. Opens we’re ever going to see.”

“Bones” Mackay on Shinnecock’s place in championship golf: “I think that Shinnecock Hills is arguably the finest U.S. Open venue there is on the rotation. I absolutely love everything about it... I just think the golf course will shine and we’re due to have one of the great U.S. Opens ever played.”

Hicks on Scottie Scheffler’s Grand Slam opportunity: “I think it starts with Scheffler… I just think he’s still the guy that is the favorite going in. I think he’s got all the shots. I think you need all the shots, that the USGA would love to see. He’s got ‘em all. It’s just a matter of how the putter is working in particular. But if it is working, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him on his 30th birthday get it done at Shinnecock, which would be an unbelievable Father’s Day, Scheffler, career Grand Slam. Doesn’t get much more magical than that. So that’s going to be a great storyline to follow, and I think that Scheffler will be a part of it in the end.”

“Bones” Mackay on Shinnecock’s par-3s: “I think they’re arguably the finest set of par-3s that you’re ever going to find. I just think that if it came down to a vote and the U.S. Open was only going to be played at one golf course anywhere in this country for the remainder of time, Shinnecock Hills would get my vote. I just think it’s that good.”

Kisner on the USGA’s setup philosophy: “What [John Bodenhamer] wants to do, and I think the USGA’s kind of changed their tune to, we want to go to the best golf courses in the world and play there... Shinnecock is a great test all the way around and has all the different variables that you want to have to test the players…I think they’re going to let Shinnecock Hills be Shinnecock Hills and not let agronomy get in the way and not let a target score get in the way.”

Hicks on the USGA’s approach at Shinnecock: “They want to let Shinnecock be Shinnecock. They want to take less of a role in dictating maybe what the scores should be... I think it’s a refreshing philosophy by them, and I think we’re going to see it on full display at Shinnecock.”
