NBC Sports to Present Coverage this Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 28, 2026 – Beginning tonight, NBC Sports will present five consecutive days of live swimming competition as nine-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel and two-time Olympic gold medalists Kate Douglass and Gretchen Walsh lead many of the United States’ top swimmers in the Toyota National Championships at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif. NBC and Peacock will present coverage on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Daily live coverage of the National Championships begins tonight, July 28, at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBCSN.
Dressel continues his comeback after taking a break from competition following the 2024 Paris Olympics, clocking a 21.84 in the 50m freestyle at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Indianapolis in June – his fastest time in that event since Paris 2024. Dressel, who owns multiple American records, aims to add on to his 11 U.S. National Championship titles this weekend.
Douglass and Walsh are both amid historic seasons. Douglass broke the world record in the 50m freestyle in June, only for Walsh to break it again a mere nine days later in a time of 23.55 seconds. Former University of Virginia teammates who still train together, the duo are expected to compete head-to-head against each other in the 50m freestyle on Saturday in a race that would pit the two fastest women ever in that event.
The U.S., which led the swimming medal count at the Olympics (28) for a ninth consecutive Games at the 2024 Paris Summer Games, is expected to have an elite roster on display this week, including Tokyo Olympic 200m medley silver medalist Alex Walsh, two-time world silver medalist and 100m freestyle U.S. record holder Anna Moesch, and two-time Paris Olympic bronze medalist Ilya Kharun, in his U.S. Nationals debut after switching national allegiances from Canada to the U.S. earlier this year.
NBC Sports’ Jason Knapp will call the action alongside three-time Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines. Nicole Auerbach will serve as reporter.
NBC Sports’ swimming coverage continues with live coverage of the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships from Aug. 12-15 across NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN. This will be the 14th edition – and first since 2018 – of the international competition. Further programming details will be provided at a later date.
