Robert Franks has been signed to a second 10-day contract, the Magic announced on Thursday.
Franks won’t have much of an impact as far as fantasy basketball is concerned, but he has been receiving rotation minutes. That’s likely to remain the case for as long as Otto Porter (sore left foot) remains sidelined and, given the Magic’s struggles, there may not be much motivation to put the veteran back into the rotation once he’s cleared to play.

  • UTA Center #11
Mo Bamba (left hip contusion) is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Bulls.
Bamba had to exit Monday’s game in the first quarter after aggravating the hip injury, and there is some doubt as to whether or not he’ll be able to play Wednesday night. If he’s unable to go, rookie Robert Franks would be in line to play rotation minutes off the bench. He would not be worthy of consideration as a possible streaming option in most leagues.

  • CLE Power Forward #18
Chuma Okeke (sore right hip) will not play vs. the Bucks on Sunday, but he didn’t require an MRI and is day-to-day.
“We’re hoping it’ll be one night, a couple nights and nothing that will be lasting,” said coach Steve Clifford. The Magic are tanking and Okeke’s absence certainly helps in that regard, as he’s been very productive in a starting role since the trade deadline. Otto Porter Jr. (left foot) remains out indefinitely, so the Magic will go small more often and should give James Ennis extended run at power forward. They could even lean on recently-signed forwards Donta Hall and Robert Franks out of necessity. Okeke will be listed as questionable for Monday.

The Magic are planning to sign Robert Franks to a 10-day contract.
A 6-7 forward, Franks was previously in the G League for the Lakeland Magic, averaging 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.5 dimes, 0.5 blocks and 1.5 triples. We’ll keep an eye on him as the Magic are in player evaluation mode.
