Alabama junior LB Shane Lee has entered the transfer portal.
Lee (6'0/240) entering the portal was announced on Thursday, as the veteran linebacker will look to play elsewhere in 2022 following his first three seasons with the team. As a freshman at Alabama, Lee was a starter for the Tide, playing on 742 snaps in 2019 along with 84 tackles, 18 quarterback pressures and five sacks to go with one interception. After an impressive start to his career however, Lee would only play a combined 65 snaps from 2020-2021, totaling just three tackles and two sacks over that period. After two seasons of little action, Lee will now look for a more prominent role in the transfer portal heading into 2022.

Alabama HC Nick Saban said that freshman LB Shane Lee will draw the Week 1 start against Duke in place of junior Dylan Moses (ACL).
Lee (6'0/246) just signed with Alabama this past winter, ranking as Rivals’ No. 50 overall prospect in the 2019 class, but he is about to be pushed into the starting fire. And has some big shoes to fill. Moses has a pro future. As talented as Lee might be, the Tide were not expecting to have to bank on him for immediate starts coming out of August camp. Alabama will now be starting a pair of freshman linebackers this fall, with Lee joining Christian Harris on that front. Any further injuries in the position room could prove very problematic.

Alabama received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 LB Shane Lee.
Lee ranks 33rd on ESPN’s list of the top 300 players in the 2019 class, and 247 Sports ranks him third among inside linebackers in the class. The defensive factory that is Alabama gets another high-level recruit. He picks the Crimson tide over offers from schools like Penn State, Clemson, Florida State and LSU. At 6-foot-1, 240-pounds, Lee has the size to be a thumper, and reports indicate he’s just that. He could be a freshman that competes for time when he enrolls in 2019.
