Mario Balotelli has been a member of Liverpool Football Club for just over a year now, and his year at Anfield has not gone as planned.

The 25-year-old striker managed just one goal in 16 Premier League appearances last season, and has been left out of Brendan Rodgers’ side for Liverpool’s opening two matches of the 2015-16 PL season.

Italian giants AC Milan have confirmed that the club is in talks with Liverpool over a loan deal for Balotelli, but a financial disagreement over wages has halted the move from going through.

Speaking to Italian television network Mediaset Premium, AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said the club was willing to bring Balotelli back to the San Siro, but warned that it could be the striker’s “last chance.”

There are negotiations with Liverpool for a loan, but we have not reached an agreement on wages.

We want a loan with a portion of the wages paid by us and another portion by Liverpool.

We want Balo because we are convinced this lad realises that this is absolutely his last chance. I hope he understands that.”

Balotelli played for AC Milan before moving to Anfield, enjoying a very successful spell with the club. He scored 26 goals in 43 league appearances, and was named to the Serie A Team of the Year in 2013.

Often talked about for his antics off the pitch more than his play on it, Balotelli has kept a lower profile at Liverpool, but his play has fallen off the radar as well. AC Milan seems willing to take a gamble on him, and he’ll need to prove he can still be a game-changer at the top level.
