The big question is: is this rivalry becoming one of the largest in world soccer?

It’s getting there.

Spurs -- perennial underachievers who don’t need reminding that they’ve finished below Arsenal in the Premier League for 21-straight years -- have surged up the Premier League table and are now legit title contenders as they showed last season and they’re showing that once again this season as the only team in the PL still unbeaten.

With both teams now in the UEFA Champions League, Spurs’ new stadium to be finished by 2018 (with a just over 60,000 fans, to make their home bigger than Arsenal’s) and Mauricio Pochettino’s young side developing, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will feel their north London rivals breathing down their necks.

That will only continue in years to come as Wenger’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain beyond this season.

All of that being said, in the latest PST Extra Jenna Corrado and I discuss the burgeoning rivalry between north London’s two clubs and try to decide if it will become even more significant of a derby on the world stage in years to come.

It is perhaps still lacking in importance when compared to the Liverpool vs. Manchester United rivalry which has seen both teams win the biggest trophies domestically and in Europe, but other than that, is this rivalry the biggest in the PL and one of the biggest in Europe?

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Arsenal vs. Tottenham rivalry in the comments section below.

Will this rivalry ever be as big as the likes of Barcelona vs. Real Madrid or River Plate vs. Boca Juniors?
