How to watch Mexico vs South Korea live: Stream, TV channel, team news, prediction

Mexico and South Korea square off in Guadalajara on Thursday with both teams aiming to make it two wins from two in Group A and almost be certain of a spot in the knockout rounds.

WATCH Mexico v South Korea

El Tri beat South Africa 2-0 in the Estadio Azteca last week to open the tournament amid jubilant scenes across Mexico. Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez were on target and Mexico’s high-energy display has their fans dreaming of a deep run.

South Korea edged past Czechia to open their tournament with a crucial 2-1 win. Heung-min Son’s experience and quality is key, but so too is the brilliant organization and discipline as their midfielders swarmed all over Czechia in the big win.

How to watch Mexico vs South Korea live, stream link and start time

Kick off time: 9pm ET Thursday (June 18)
Venue: Estadio Akron — Guadalajara, Mexico
TV Channel: Telemundo
Streaming: Stream live on Peacock, en Espanol

Mexico team news, focus

Center back Cesar Montes is out for this game after picking up a one-game ban for being sent off late on against South Africa. Edson Alvarez will likely come in for Montes at center back, but not much else will change for Mexico. Midfielders Brian Gutierrez, Alvaro Fidalgo and Erik Lira will once again have a really important role to play in stepping high and winning the ball back early. Teenager Gilberto Mora is a hero already and is pushing hard for more minutes after the 17-year-old came off the bench against South Africa.

South Korea team news, focus

Son went so close to scoring on several occasions against Czechia and is playing right on the last shoulder of the defender as he looks to use his supreme finishing ability in the key areas. South Korea’s one main area of weakness is defending set pieces and they will have to keep a close eye on Raul Jimenez and his aerial threat.

Mexico vs South Korea prediction

This will be very even and both teams love to press high and play on the counter. It’s all about which team is more clinical and it seems like that will be Mexico. Go for an El Tri win as the party will crank up a few more notches. Mexico 2-1 South Korea.
