Major League Soccer’s 22nd franchise will begin play in 2017 and on Thursday prices for season tickets were released and one thing stood out: extremely good value for money.

The cheapest season ticket in the supporters section will cost just $360 for the entire campaign, equating to $20 per game, and the most expensive season ticket excluding a pre-match buffett is $1,080, or $60 per game.

When the Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosts United’s first-ever MLS home match, it’s safe to say it will be a sell out.

Already earmarked to become one of the best supported teams in MLS, as of October last year Atlanta had sold over 26,000 season ticket deposits which were $50 deposits paid by people who wanted to secure a season ticket for the 2017 MLS season. Those founding members will now be able to pay their season tickets ahead of MLS kicking off in Georgia in March 2017.

Below is a seating chart for the MLS configuration of the stadium, which will hold 29,322. The venue can hold 71,000 for NFL games as United will share their home with the Atlanta Falcons, and given the initial levels of interest perhaps the capacity for MLS games will need to be increased.

However, there is one thing that sticks out and that is the large number of club seats on the halfway line.

Those are the seats which will usually not be bought for every single game, so expect to see quite a few gaps around midfield during television broadcasts and packed ends behind each goal.

Regardless, that’s nitpicking. This is yet another banner day for the incoming MLS franchise.
