Newcastle United beat Hull City 3-0 on Saturday at the KC Stadium in a comfortable stroll for the Magpies as Hull lost for the fourth-straight game.
After John Carver was named head coach until the rest of the season earlier this week, the Magpies dominated vast swathes of this encounter and won their first game since Alan Pardew’s departure as manager four games ago.

The Magpies went ahead through Remy Cabella’s stunner, then extended their lead in the second half with goals from Sammy Ameobi and Yoann Gouffran. Hull had the ball in the net but Ahmed Elmohamady clearly handled and was shown a yellow card on a disappointing afternoon for the Tigers.
Steve Bruce’s side remain in the bottom three on 19 points after the defeat, while Newcastle climbed to 10th and have 30 points.

In the fifth minute Newcastle came close to taking the lead as Moussa Sissoko drove forward from midfield and drilled a shot just wide of Allan McGregor’s near post.
After 17 minutes Hull almost went ahead as Elmohamady whipped in a great cross which Curtis Davies headed towards goal but a combination of Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini kept the ball from crossing the line. Great chance for the Tigers as Newcastle then threatened but Haidara’s peach of a cross was headed straight at McGregor by Ayoze Perez.
As half time arrived neither team had taken the game by the scruff of the neck in a disjointed encounter in Yorkshire but the match then exploded into life. In the 40th minute Cabella smashed in a rocket of a shot for his first Newcastle goal, as the Frenchman made the most of Andrew Robertson handing the ball straight to him on the edge of the box. Then a huge moment of controversy arrived on the stroke of half time as Gaston Ramirez whipped in a terrific cross which Elmohamady seemed to head into the net.

But after seeing the replay the Egyptian clearly punched the ball into the net and resembled a volleyball player rather then a soccer player. Despicable. A great decision from the linesman on the nearside who disallowed the goal to stop Hull from equalizing.
In the second half Newcastle went 2-0 up within five minutes of the restart as Ameobi hit a shot from long-range which deceived McGregor and bounced home to send the traveling fans wild. 2-0 to the Magpies. Hull tried to get back into the game but Newcastle threw their bodies at everything as plenty of long balls were pumped into the box by the Tigers.
Hull had a great chance to pull one back in the 64th minute as Ramirez burst through but his shot was saved and Jelavic somehow failed to convert from inside the six-yard box. Newcastle wrapped up the win late on as Gouffran’s deflected effort made it 3-0. A massive win for Newcastle, while Hull’s plight worsens.
