The Tigers were pinned back for most of the match as Villa recorded 62 percent of the possession but failed to get in behind the Tigers as they lost for the fifth-straight game and “Lambert out” banners were up in the away end as the supporters want Paul Lambert fired.

Jelavic and N’Doye caused problems all night long and the duo combined for the first goal, then N’Doye grabbed a goal on his debut to seal the win.

With the victory Hull climb up to 15th on 23 points, while Villa drop into the bottom three and are now without a win in 10.

A slow start played out on the banks of the Humber as Aston Villa struggled and Hull began to look dangerous as long balls in behind Villa’s defense were chased down by Jelavic and N’Doye.

That partnership proved fruitful as the duo combined with N’Doye slotting in a perfect ball to set up Jelavic whose effort deflected off Clark and past Brad Guzan and into the back of the net. 1-0 to Hull.

Ashley Westwood whipped a free kick just past the post for Villa as the away side struggled to get things going on a cold night in east Yorkshire.

Christian Benteke came on at half time for Villa to try and fire up their struggling offense. Left back Aly Cissokho squandered a good opportunity after surging into the box as Villa pressed for an equalizer. Joe Cole replaced Scott Sinclair for the closing stages as Villa continued to pin Hull back without really threatening.

Hull doubled their lead in the 74th minute as N’Doye prodded home at the second attempt from close range to grab a debut goal and seal a vital three points in the relegation battle.
