Julian Green’s next cap will have to wait out injury, as a rib ailment will keep him from participating in the USMNT’s next two friendlies.

Green was in camp with the States ahead of Friday’s match against Ecuador and Tuesday’s duel with Honduras, but was not able to progress in health. Here’s what the boss Tweeted this morning.

#USMNT@J_Green37 still isn’t 100 percent from his rib injury, so we are sending him back to Hamburg to continue recovery. #USAvECU

There’s no need to risk the promising attacker, and Chris Wondolowski had already been called up to deepen the team’s ranks.

Here’s the updated roster:

Defenders (7): John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Greg Garza (Club Tijuana), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Michael Orozco (Puebla), Tim Ream (Bolton Wanderers), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)

Midfielders (5): Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Luis Gil (Real Salt Lake), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt)

Forwards (6): Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Joe Gyau (Borussia Dortmund), Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United FC), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Bobby Wood (1860 Munich)
