Following the USMNT’s 2-1 defeat to Mexico, the team suffered another blow as head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said starting goalkeeper Tim Howard is not likely to travel with the team to Costa Rica for its World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
Howard went down in the first half after taking a goal kick. The goalkeeper tried to continue, but after going to ground to make a save a few minutes later he signaled to the sideline that he had to come off.

At Klinsmann’s post match press conference, the coach said of Howard, “He pulled his muscle. I think he’s not able to come with us to Costa Rica. He will get a MRI tomorrow morning, but he’s so experienced he knows that it’s not looking that good.”
The U.S. now travels to Costa Rica for its second match in the Hex on Tuesday night. Brad Guzan, who came on for Howard against Mexico, should get the start in goal.
