It was announced on Friday that Kyle Walker — just as Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Harry Winks did in the summer and fall weeks before him — has signed a new five-year deal through the 2021 season. Just as those before him, Walker is reported to have received a raise to his weekly wages of the not-insignificant variety.

The 2015-16 season saw Walker remain healthy and fit for the majority of the Premier League season for the first time since 2012-13. In turn, Walker finally turned in the kind of consistent performances long expected of him, and grabbed the starting right back job for England ahead of EURO 2016, unlikely to relinquish his spot anytime soon.
Mauricio Pochettino has provided a promising present for Tottenham, and an even brighter future with the club now less than two seasons from moving into their brand new, 61,000-seat stadium in north London. It’s a club, and he’s a manager, for whom every young player should want to play.
