Since then, Real have struggled in the league and have failed to score from open play in their last two La Liga matches and have picked up just one point from those two games with Carlo Ancelotti backing his under-fire stars as Barcelona went back to the top of the table. As for Schalke, their form isn’t much better after Roberto Di Matteo’s side dropped to fifth in the Bundesliga following a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund and a draw against fellow top four chasers Werder Bremen.
Elsewhere, Portuguese giants Porto welcome FC Basel to the Estadio do Dragao for an intriguing clash. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at St. Jakob Park with Porto hitting back after going behind but captain Jackson Martinez, who has scored six goals in eight UCL appearances this season, is likely to miss out through injury.
