Liverpool fan group to fly “Rodgers Out” banner over Chelsea match

As news leaks out that Steven Gerrard will not start for Liverpool in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash at Real Madrid, another big name Reds personality is facing a protest of sorts from fans who would like to see him out the Anfield door.

A group called the “Rodgers Out Club” has reportedly rented a plane to fly a banner over Anfield during Saturday’s match against Chelsea, and its words make no bones about their feelings toward the former Swansea City boss.

Let’s hope the airplane company got its money in hand in case the Reds topple Real, but I digress.

From the BBC:

A section of Liverpool fans are reportedly planning on flying a banner over Anfield calling on manager Brendan Rodgers to be sacked.

A Twitter account, under the name @RodgersOutClub, has revealed a plane will fly over Anfield when the team plays Chelsea on Saturday displaying a banner which says: “Brendan Rodgers is a football genius. Forever in love with Southampton and Swansea’s footballers. £215m spent on absolute rubbish #RodgersOUT”.

Liverpool faces strong odds that it’ll be in Group B’s last place once the day of UEFA Champions League is over, and is in 7th place on the Premier League table (equidistant from first and last).

But Rodgers out? Six months after being hailed a hero in a remarkably emotional season? Seems a bit of a waste of money, no?
