As Brendan Rodgers looks to “next season”, a piece he’ll want for many more is close to reupping with Liverpool.

It’s been a few weeks since Raheem Sterling’s Liverpool contract extension was reported as “being finalized”.

Rodgers says things are moving along well in attempts to give the 20-year-old a hefty raise and glue him to Anfield come 2020 or a crazy future transfer fee.

From LiverpoolFC.com:

“Obviously the club are speaking with his representatives on it,” reported the boss. “I would think that will be concluded very imminently.

“You can see he’s very happy, it’s nothing to do with Raheem - he wants to be here. Hopefully we’ll get a solution on that very soon.”

Sterling been catered to since his much ballyhooed “exhaustion”, even getting a nice Jamaican vacation. Liverpool’s taking care of Sterling like a long-term resource, so it only makes sense they pay him like one.
