Luis Suarez is a “dirty street rat”

So much for Oldham Athletic keeping a low profile ahead of a Sunday match-up with Liverpool in the FA Cup, as Latics manager Lee Johnson has labeled in-form Reds striker Luis Suarez a “dirty street rat.”

Now, he means it in the “nicest way possible,” which might be akin to telling someone they smell awful but that there are people in the world who enjoy awful-smelling folks.

“I mean this in the nicest possible way, but he’s like a dirty street rat. Sharp, horrible and a bit nasty. And that’s all said in admiration because he’s a winner.”

With a different player, or even a match-up on equal footing, it’d be easier to try and find something nice in the statement. Dirty streets rats will do just about anything to find their food... or something. They have really quick footwork, too, I’m told.

Even Johnson’s follow-up “compliment” carries a little sting.

“He’s an absolute pleasure to watch sometimes.”

Sometimes.

If Brendan Rodgers was tempted to leave Suarez out of Sunday’s match at Anfield, perhaps that’s changed... and not for the betterment of Oldham’s chances.
