The game in 100 words (or less): Chicago won the match in a five minute span in the first half, taking the lead and then drawing a red card to send NYCFC to ten men minutes later. David Accam capitalized on an error by NYC goalkeeper Ryan Meara, giving the Fire the lead in the 20th minute. Just three minutes later, Accam got in behind the NYC defense and was taken down from behind, earning Andrew Jacobson a straight red card. Down a man for over an hour, New York could not produce any offense to mount a comeback.

Three moments that mattered
20' -- Meara mishap gives Chicago the lead -- NYCFC goalkeeper Ryan Meara came to the edge of his box to collect a ball, where he was pressured by Fire striker David Accam. Meara slid to keep the ball in play, but it went straight to Accam who easily passed home into an empty net for his first goal in MLS.
23' -- Jacobson gets sent off for NYCFC -- Just minutes after going behind, NYCFC suffered another setback when Andrew Jacobson was shown a straight red card. It was the goalscorer Accam who found himself behind the NYC defense, when Jacobson took down the Ghanaian striker from behind. Easy decision for the referee as Jacobson was sent to the showers.
83' -- Meara keeps it close -- After playing an hour with ten-men, Chicago nearly sealed the win with a second goal late in the match. Ryan Meara made a series of stunning saves, diving to his left before recovering to make two massive saves off the goal line. Unfortunately for Meara, his early mistake cost NYCFC.
