The game in 100 words (or less): Sunday’s clash between FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City, which finished 2-1 in favor of the home side, could very well have been a preview of the 2016 Western Conference finals, but you’d have never known it based on the quality of play which was heavily impact by injuries (Mauro Diaz, Matt Hedges, Graham Zusi, Chance Myers and Soni Mustivar, to name a few) on both sides and weather (hours of heavy rain before and during the game made the field unbelievably slick). Unsurprisingly given those circumstances, the game’s three goals were scored on two moments of spectacular defensive incompetence and the other a moment of set-piece brilliance. With the victory, FCD (14 points) reclaim the top spot in the West by virtue of the third tiebreaker, goals scored, while Sporting KC (12 points) remain fourth in the West, four points clear of the playoff cut line.
