The game in 100 words (or less): It was everything you’d want from a rivalry match, except for the lack of goals in the opening half. The second half, however, saw chances galore from the Cascadia rivals. Clint Dempsey has made it a habit of scoring in this historic rivalry, and the U.S. Men’s National Team forward kept that fact alive on Sunday night with his seventh and eighth career goals against the Timbers. Cristian Roldan added a well-deserved goal for his efforts to further the Timbers struggles on the night. Fanendo Adi tacked on a late finish, but it was nothing more than a consolation for the visitors. The victory gives the Sounders 30 points on the season after securing their third win in a row. Dempsey and co. sit a mere two points behind the Sounders for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, while holding a game in hand.

67' — Frei comes up with big stop from point blank — Probably got what he deserved for mauling Tyrone Mears to break free, but McInerney has to finish that chance.
