It’s been a big week for New York City FC.
The New York Post is reporting that Jason Kreis’ new employers at New York City FC are very close to a $400 million mega stadium located just down the street from Yankee Stadium.
NYCFC, majority owned by Manchester City with 20 percent belonging to the Yankees, would fund the construction with tax exempt bonds from the City. The new club is slated to open its existence playing at Yankee Stadium, with the new stadium ready for play in 2018-19.
The Bronx stadium would seat 28,000-plus, according to the report, and is backed by NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg. The land is currently owned by an elevator parts manufacturer called GAL Manufacturing, and NYCFC will pay for its relocation.
