Pellegrini: “63 more points to win” gives Man City hopes for title

Manchester City are not out of the title race, not by a long shot, claimed Manuel Pellegrini following his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Monday.

The way Pellegrini sees it, there are still a ton of points to play for — 63, to be exact — before the PL title will be awarded in late May. It wouldn’t be the first time Man City have come back to win the title under Pellegrini — the Blues only took the league lead for good in the 36th (of 38) week of the 2013-14 season.

Speaking in his post-game television interview (above video), Pellegrini was quick to point out the positives for Man City, who he still firmly believes are title contenders, despite a side with five league losses before Christmas (City now have five losses this season) having never won the PL title.

Pellegrini, on whether or not City still have title hopes:

“You must win these important games. It was important for Sergio to return to the team, maybe he needs a couple of games to return to his performances but it was important to have him back. There are 63 more points to win, a lot of games and the way we played in the second half shows that we will continue to fight for the title.”

“I don’t know about statistics, but of course we are not out of the title race. If you don’t believe, you are not in the profession.”
