PHOTOS: Barcelona release stunning images of $750 million Nou Camp plans

Nou Camp

Barcelona’s current crop of stars is one of the greatest teams the world has ever seen.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez will soon be playing in one of the greatest stadiums the world has ever seen.

Sure, the Nou Camp is already awesome but for anyone who has visited in recent years, it could certainly do with a fresh lick of paint.

The 99,354 capacity stadium has been home to Barca since 1957 and the reigning Spanish and European champions have announced that plans by the Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausio Arquitectes have been unanimously selected to carry out the $ renovations after several bids were put in to renovate the stadium.

In the Tweets below you can see some stunning new images which show exactly how they plan to upgrade their famous home.

Involved in the upgrades include increasing the capacity to 105,000, as the biggest soccer stadium in Europe will be even larger, plus totally revamping concourse areas and adding more premium level seating. Barca wanted to expand the Nou Camp in 2007 and plans were in place but the economic crisis caused all of that to be put on hold.

With the Premier League clubs set to get even richer next season as new TV deals kick in, Barca needs to find a way to make more money and having more commercial revenue available at their stadium will give them a big boost.

The work is set to begin 2017 and Barca hope to have it finished by 2021, with upgrades also planned for the basketball stadium which sits right next to the Nou Camp.

Have a gander at what to expect here, as a larger roof covering much of the stadium will be the biggest change for what many would regard as the heart of Catalonia.
