Sunday’s two Premier League games have a lot to live up to after a spectacular showing from the rest of the league on Saturday.
But there are two crackers coming up back-to-back on NBCSN as some huge sides face off in Week 12’s remaining fixtures.
Both Manchester sides face tough games as the top of the PL standings may look decidedly different when the final whistle blows on Sunday.
Let’s have a quick gander at what we can expect from these two contests.
Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotpsur (live on NBCSN, 8:30am ET)
Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City side have been sensational at home, but woeful on the road. Luckily they face Spurs in the comfy confides of the Etihad Stadium as they look to make it six home wins from six this season. Tottenham can’t score for love nor money right now and the pressure is mounting on striker Robert Soldado and Spurs’ other new signings who’ve yet to deliver the creative spark many were hoping for. Both Pellegrini and AVB will be hoping to jump back into the top six as Spurs sit seventh and City in ninth, separated by just one point, going into this clash. Tottenham’s defense is the meanest in the league but City’s offense is the best, something has to give in Manchester on Sunday as both sides aim for a win that will see them move back towards the top four where they think they belong. If Segrio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo are given too much time, they could tear Tottenham apart.
Cardiff City vs. Manchester United (live on NBCSN, 11am ET)
Like Man City, the Bluebirds are also an incredibly difficult team to beat at home and they’ve already scalped Manchester’s other side at the Cardiff City Stadium... can they add United to a long-list of famous wins in the Welsh capital? Malkay Mackay’s side beat Swansea in the South Wales derby in their last home game but were disappointing in a 2-0 away loss to Aston Villa before the international break. As for United, David Moyes’ men could climb into fourth spot with a victory after being buoyed by their win against Arsenal before the break. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last five PL games and have won four of those. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are key to their success on Sunday and beyond, can Cardiff’s center backs Steven Caulker and Ben Turner keep them quite?
