Report: Altidore pricing himself out of New York Red Bulls move

Sunderland v Hull City - Premier League

Jozy Altidore’s camp values him a bit more than the New York Red Bulls do, and that could certainly keep him from filling one of New York’s vacant Designated Player slots.

ESPN is reporting that Altidore sees himself as a $5-6 million man, which would put him in the same league -- physically and financially -- with MLS players Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley, Kaka and Steven Gerrard.

New York is understandably sketchy about the move. The only striker in that group has a much better scoring record in the Premier League, but Altidore’s name value is a big deal for a team as well.

The ESPN report also mentions that Lille remains the frontrunner for his services, but Taylor Twellman previously called Portland and Toronto FC possible homes.
