Report: Man City chase 13-year-old dubbed “the new Messi”

Remember the 13-year-old kid who made his debut for Celtic’s U-20 side last week?

Yeah, Karamoko Dembele blew us all away with his incredible skills as videos of him ripping it up in Celtic’s youth teams emerged.

Big clubs are reportedly circling for Dembele and The Sun is reporting that Manchester City want to bring him to their academy.

City have started to build a reputation as the top team for youth players to sign for -- Pep Guardiola’s name will do that as highly-rated teenagers Jadon Sancho and Benjamin Garre have joined the academy in recent months -- as the facilities as their City Football Academy are second to none and per the report their academy kids are all placed at an expensive private school (St Bede’s) with City picking up the tab for their education.

According to the report Celtic played Dembele in a U-20 match to try and show evidence that they’ve developed him if another other clubs in Europe try to sign him. If Dembele does then leave for City or another club, Celtic would be in line for a hefty compensation fee.

The kid is obviously going places and despite his obvious talent (see the video above, it never gets old) this does seem like a heck of a lot of pressure to pile on the shoulders of a 13-year-old.
