Thirty-four times capped USMNT back and Birmingham City stalwart defender Jonathan Spector will miss about three months after tearing a thigh muscle and tendon.
Besides the fact that it sounds incredibly painful, the injury comes at a time when Jurgen Klinsmann could’ve been looking in the Brum defender’s direction.
The club’s web site released the news on Thursday.

Spector, 28, made three appearances at Manchester United from 2003-06 before transferring to West Ham. He played more than 100 times for the Irons before moving to Birmingham City, where he shares a locker room with fellow American internationals Will Packwood and Brek Shea.
A valuable and versatile back, Spector has won a Gold Cup and played in the memorable 2009 Confederations Cup. He was on the roster but did not appear in the 2010 World Cup, and has found opportunities hard to come by since Klinsmann took over for Bob Bradley.
