Manchester United was comfortable throughout a 3-0 win at Goodison Park, making amends for a big loss against Arsenal by throttling the Toffees.

Louis van Gaal is extremely pleased with his club’s reaction to falling to the Gunners, especially given the international break which separated him from organizing his club in an ideal fashion.

The United boss called his side’s performance against Everton “fantastic”, and added that it was “crazy” that goal scorer Wayne Rooney hadn’t scored at his boyhood club in almost a decade.

But he showed where his focus lies: Manchester City for next weekend’s derby.

From the BBC:

“We have to be more consistent so next week when we win against Manchester City then we can say OK, now we think maybe about title aspirations. But of course we are always having the target of champions. That is of course important in our ambition but it also has to be real. It’s too early to talk about that.”

United is two points behind City for the top spot in the Premier League, and Old Trafford is the venue for two teams coming off big wins.
