LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane has all the right credentials to be named 2014 MLS Most Valuable Player next month.
In fact, the Irishman is all but guaranteed to finish first or second in the yearly award handed out to the league’s best player. Following the Galaxy’s training session on Thursday, Keane took a few minutes to put on an impressive display that rivaled the top stars of baseball’s home run derby and basketball’s three-point shooting exhibitions — lobbing dead balls at a constantly moving maintenance vehicle, and nailing it again and again and again (above video).
Keane was spotted having fun and being a fun dad to his five-year-old son, Robert Jr., and of course, reminding us once again — like he needs to at this point — that he’s better at soccer than you and you and you and you and me.
In total, Keane nailed the moving cart with seven out of nine shots — an astonishing 77 percent strike rate, a number that would make anyone in the world not named Ronaldo or Messi extremely jealous — including three that landed and stayed inside the cart.
If there’s a tie in the MVP voting, we’ve got just the perfect tiebreaker in mind.
