Manchester City has completed two of the ten most expensive transfers in football history in less than a month this summer.

First, the Citizens set a club record by shelling out $76 million for Raheem Sterling. Then, they broke that record after buying Kevin de Bruyne for $85 million. That’s quite the spending spree for a club that was punished last season for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
Manuel Pellegrini has been manager at Manchester City for just over two years now, and in that time the club has spent more than half a billion dollars ($516 million to be exact).

With all the new signings, Robbie Earle believes the club has so much talent that you could almost field two teams from the squad and be competitive in the Premier League.
While the numbers sound ridiculous, it looks like money well spent based on the club’s form to start the season. City sits at the top of the table with four wins from four matches, and have yet to concede a goal.
