After 12 minutes of Southampton’s game with Sunderland on Saturday, one of the most bizarre moments in Premier League history occurred.
Santiago Vergini etched his name into PL folklore with this unbelievable own goal.
The Sunderland defender came in from right back position to close down Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, but Vergini hammered his clearance towards his own net and the ball went straight into the top corner.
