From their first goal, a stunning combination play from Juan Mata to Radamel Falcao to Wayne Rooney (VIDEO), to Robin van Persie’s finally tally in the 3-1 win, Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils were in control.

Only a needless late penalty cost them their clean sheet, and van Gaal was quite pleased.

From ManUtd.com:

“I think we have dominated the game for 90 minutes and scored fantastic goals - we should have scored much more,” Van Gaal told MUTV.

“The first-half was, of course, the better half and, during the second, we were already thinking of the match against Tottenham, which is why we did not dominate – I am very pleased with the performance today.”

Van Gaal also said Rooney responded well to his wishes that the captain attack the opposition more. Rooney finished the day with two goals and an assist in a complete performance.
