England defeated Slovenia 3-2 in EURO 2016 qualifying today, keeping the Three Lions record perfect in Group E with six wins from six matches.

Trailing 1-0 after a sloppy first half, Roy Hodgson’s side scored three second half goals, with two coming from the feet of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere had never scored for England before, and his first two international goals were powerful strikes from outside the box.

First, Wilshere fired a first-time shot that found the top left corner of the net to level the score at one.

His second goal was even better, taking a clever back heel from Adam Lallana to find the top corner again, as Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic could only watch.

Slovenia would get one back to make the score 2-2, but Wayne Rooney scored his 48th goal for England in the 86th minute to clinch the 3-2 win. With the goal, Rooney draws level with Gary Lineker as the second-highest scorer in the country’s history. The Manchester United and England captain is now just one goal behind Sir Bobby Charlton as England’s all-time top scorer.
