Defending Champion Cristiano Ronaldo is the red-hot favorite ahead of three-time winner Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Does Ronaldo deserve to win his second-straight Ballon d’Or award? The Real Madrid superstar scored 55 goals in 52 games for club and country in 2014 but the 29-year-old Portuguese captain failed to inspire his side at the World Cup as they crashed out in the group stage.

Messi, 27, became the all-time leading goalscorer in La Liga, as well as captaining Argentine to the World Cup final where they lost in extra time to Germany. Messi was handed the Golden Ball for the player of the tournament in Brazil, but many thought otherwise.

Neuer, just 28, won the World Cup with Germany as well as the German title with Bayern Munich in 2014 and was named the best goalkeeper in Brazil as he helped his nation become champions with several stunning displays.
