First things first, the Serie A title race is over. It has been for weeks, and despite Roma’s (49 points) 1-1 draw with Juventus (58) on Monday, they’re still nine points behind the three-time defending champions. Only a resounding victory over Juve could have put this year’s scudetto‘s ultimate resting place in doubt.

Secondly, this free kick from Carlos Tevez (below video). Watch it, learn it, live it, love it. Tevez’s placement was so good, Morgan De Sanctis simply said, “Man, forget it.” It doesn’t get much better than that.

The game featured 12 yellow cards, including two for Roma defender Vasilis Torosidis, who was sent off in the 62nd minute.

Juve look destined to completely sew up the title when Tevez’s curler took the lead in the 64th minute, but Seydou Keita poked home a loose ball following a corner kick to steal a point and keep Roma’s title hopes on life support.

Without top midfield commanders Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba, Juve were content to sit deeper, concede possession to Roma (58 possession) and soak up pressure. Despite Juve putting just one shot on target — Tevez’s free kick — Roma couldn’t claim to have been the superior side, nor deserving of three points.

As has been the case all season long, Juve are/were good — not great — and no one else is even close to them.
