WATCH: Copa Libertadores free kick play is tactically brilliant, leads to win

Next time you’re taking a free kick and the wall looks only worried about a shot, perhaps try this slick little maneuver, which comes from Tuesday’s Copa Libertadores match between Racing (Argentina) and Sporting Cristal (Peru).

Gustavo Bou passes his free kick to Luciano Aued on the end of the wall, who lays the ball off for Brian Fernandez, who had peeled out of the wall with his mark and ripped a shot past the fooled goalkeeper.

It’s extra brilliant because it forces the wall to consider following marks out of the wall later in the match, putting a sizable hole in the defense.

The Argentine hosts lost to Cristal, 2-1, but remain in first place in Group 8 midway through the group stage.
