Gedion Zelalem’s Rangers debut was a success, but not an unqualified one for the on-loan Arsenal teenager.
Playing on loan from Arsenal for the second-tier Scottish side, Zelalem picked up a pair of assists on debut in Rangers’ 5-0 League Cup win over Airdrieonians, a Scottish League One side.
Forget the weaker opposition for a second, and enjoy that the 18-year-old Zelalem was dynamite. From the beautiful pass on his first assist, the kid was on.

And while the James Tavernier driblle that led to his second assist shows just how far down the pecking order we’ll find Airdrieonians, it’s encouraging. Despite some in the anti-Klinsmann crowd begging for the teen to disappoint, it seems all Zelalem does is impress at every level.

Oh, and a few days ago, this:
The 18-year-old doesn’t turn 19 til January, and this wasn’t even Scottish Championship opposition, but he just might come home to Arsenal from the physical Scottish league looking 25.
