Hold on to your hats everyone, the master is back.

On Friday FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi returned to full training for the first time in over five weeks, as the four-time FIFA World Player of the Year has recovered from a hamstring injury.

Messi, 26, has spent time back in his native land of Argentina receiving treatment to help speed up his recovery after missing a plethora of games before Spanish soccer’s winter break. But now he’s back raring to go and he showed us all exactly what we’ve been missing with a dazzling display in his first training match, at Barcelona’s open door training session at the Miniestadi on Friday.

In his absence Cristiano Ronaldo scored several stunning goals for Barca’s rivals Real Madrid, as many believe Messi’s time as the king of world soccer is about to come to an end when the Ballon d’Or trophy (handed out eery year to the world’s best player) is awarded in Zurich on January 13. Without Mess from November 23 until December 22, Barcelona lost two of their eight games but still managed to hammer their opposition on numerous occasions.

But with the Argentine’s display of deadly finishing on his return to training in front of over 13,000 (yeah, you read that correctly) adoring fans on Friday, it’s hard to see Messi’s star not shining brightly for the rest of the 2013-14 campaign and the World Cup in Brazil this summer. Especially as he’s now had a good six-week break and should be recharged and ready to go.

It’ll probably take him a few games to get back to his best, but if the video above is anything to go by... even when he’s a little rusty Messi is still pretty darn good. (Understatement alert).
