Wednesday’s Transfer Rumor Roundup: Reus rules out Liverpool, Chicharito to Spurs
Marco Reus has been made aware of rumors linking him to Liverpool, but he’s not having it.
While the Reds continue to search for goals and work rate in the wake of Luis Suarez’s departure. Christian Benteke and Danny Ings have been brought in, but they are apparently still searching for creativity up front.
With plenty of chatter linking the Borussia Dortmund attacker to Anfield, his agency Sports Total said on Reus’s behalf, “We can say with certainty that the player is having a wonderful time at Dortmund. He is flattered by the interest of many European teams but he’s recently decided to stay in Dortmund.”

Tottenham are reportedly hoping to add to a shallow strike group by ramping up interest in Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. The club is in the process of sending Emmanuel Adebayor on loan to Aston Villa and hoping to sell Roberto Soldado, so more players are needed to back up Harry Kane. The Times reports that Chicharito interests Daniel Levy, and that he will keep an eye on Manchester United’s next preseason match against Paris Saint-Germain. One roadblock could be United’s own strike group, which itself is thin, and Louis van Gaal could decide to keep Hernandez and give him a chance to prove he is valuable alongside Wayne Rooney and James Wilson.
Everton, looking to overhaul its defensive line from last year’s poor showing, has reportedly shown interest in Austrian central defender Aleksandar Dragovic. Currently at Dynamo Kiev, the 24-year-old is known for a tough, no-nonsense playing style, something the Toffees seriously lacked last season. According to talkSPORT, manager Roberto Martinez is hoping to bring Dragovic in as a potential replacement for John Stones should they lose Stones to Chelsea. The Austrian made 24 league appearances last season in the Ukranian Premier League, and has already begun this year’s campaign with a pair of wins.
Championship side Burnley are reportedly looking into boosting their chances of staying up with a low-cut $3.1 million deal for Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker. The 24-year-old struggled mightily with knee injuries last season, and thus only made 11 Premier League appearances, eight of those starts.
