West Ham’s Bilic labels London Derby win over Spurs “the game of the season for us”

West Ham looked comfortable at home in a London Derby match against Tottenham Hotspur, and the visitors looked nothing like themselves.

Michail Antonio’s goal lifted the Irons to a 1-0 win over Spurs, so it’s no surprise West Ham manager Slaven Bilic was ecstatic with his team’s performance in what he’s calling their “game of the season”.

Much was coming up West Ham, even with a few misses that could’ve made it a lopsided scoreline. And on the other side, even prime scorer Harry Kane bungled an easy chance to level things up for Spurs.

It was that kinda day for both sides, in different ways.

From the BBC:

“We expected this atmosphere tonight, it is the game of the season for us. It is maybe our best performance, from the first minute we were on the front foot and dominant, tactically, technically and physically.

“Spurs concede the least goals and run the most so to out-play them is big and they should be happy it was just one goal they conceded.”

West Ham is just a point behind both Manchester City and United, and the Irons have the same goal differential as the Red Devils. They host United on April 23.

Bilic says they aren’t focusing on the Top Four, but trying to win in the manner of the old cliche “one game at a time”. But surely West Ham fans are daring to dream with their talisman Dimitri Payet and mastermind Bilic leading the way.
