Without a manger, Newcastle United’s fans will be feeling mixed emotions.

[ RELATED: Pardew in at Palace ]

For so long they campaigned to get rid of former manager Alan Pardew (remember SackPardew.com, the numerous demonstrations et al. ?) and now the 53-year-old has jumped ship aftetr turn things around and guiding Newcastle back into the top 10 of the Premier League.

Pardew has now returned to former club Crystal Palace to try and steer the club he played for away from relegation, and Newcastle are managerless with Pardew’s former assistant John Carver in caretaker charge until controversial owner Mike Ashley appoints a new boss. All in all, it’s a bit of a mess right now at St James’ Park.

As for the potential successors to Pardew on the red-hot seat at St James’ Park, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood is the bookies favorite.

Sherwood has been out of a job since Spurs fired him at the end of last season, but the Londoner had an impressive record during his time in charge at White Hart Lane after he was made the permanents boss of Spurs following their firing of Andre Villas-Boas midway through last season. Sherwood has reportedly been close to landing jobs at Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, and his tenacious, no-nonsense approach could be a hit with Newcastle’s fans.

Other front-runners are England boss Steve McLaren who is doing a tremendous job with Derby County in England’s second tier, current caretaker boss Carver, former Glasgow Rangers Ally McCoist, Hull City manager Steve Bruce who hails from Newcastle and French coach Remi Garde.

Further down the line come some interesting names as former Swansea boss Michael Laudrup can be found at 33-1, while U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann can also be found at 33-1... Here’s some more odds.

Selected odds on next Newcastle manager

Tim Sherwood - 7/2
Steve McLaren - 9/2
John Carver - 5/1
Ally McCoist - 12/1
Steve Bruce - 25/1
Michael Laudrup - 33/1
Jurgen Klinsmann - 33/1
