Zlatan, Valeri, Almiron headline 2018 MLS All-Star squad

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, welcome to the MLS All-Star game.

The LA Galaxy forward made the MLS All-Star fan XI for the league’s upcoming annual competition, taking place this year in Atlanta on August 1, with the MLS squad facing Juventus. Reigning MLS MVP Diego Valeri, former MVP Sebastian Giovinco and a quintet of Atlanta United players join Ibrahimovic in the squad.

With Atlanta serving as host, Gerardo “Tata” Martino will coach the squad and determine the lineup, making 14 coaches selections to fill out the roster.

Miguel Almiron, Ezequiel Barco, Josef Martinez, Michael Parkhurst and Brad Guzan all made the MLS Fan XI as Atlanta United fans stuffed the online ballots for their favorite players. Darlington Nagbe was also voted into the Fan XI but he’s unable to play due to injury.

As part of his picks, MLS commissioner Don Garber selected Bradley Wright-Phillips and rising star Alphonso Davies to also be part of the event, which should showcase some of the best individual talent
