ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Tosan Evbuomwan has signed a two-way deal with the Hornets.
Charlotte waived KJ Simpson in a subsequent move. Evbuomwan will offer forward depth, but he’s not likely to see enough run to be worth a look in most fantasy leagues.
  • NYK Small Forward #12
HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports the Knicks signed Tosan Evbuomwan.
Evbuomwan, who finished last season with the Nets on a two-way deal, was waived in late August. Over two NBA seasons, he’s appeared in 45 games for the Grizzlies, Pistons and Nets, averaging 8.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 22.9 minutes. Evbuomwan will likely be on an Exhibit 10 contract, putting him in a position to earn additional money if he’s waived and then spends 60 days with the Knicks’ G League affiliate.
  • BKN Small Forward #12
Tosan Evbuomwan shot 2-of-14 from the field and 2-of-4 from the foul line in Friday’s loss to the 76ers, scoring six points with six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
While Evbuomwan did not shoot the ball well on Friday, his all-around ability was on display. In addition to his rebounding, the former Princeton standout can facilitate offensively. Evbuomwan is on a two-way deal, which will limit his opportunities once the regular season begins. However, given the amount of youth on Brooklyn’s roster, there may come times when Tosan is allowed to play rotation minutes. Whether or not he’s worth streaming in those spots will depend on the health of those ahead of him in the pecking order.
  • BKN Small Forward #2
Cameron Johnson (back) is out for Friday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Johnson has not appeared in a game since March 29, and that won’t change on Friday. The Nets forward won’t even travel with the team; instead, he will remain in Brooklyn. Trendon Watford and Tosan Evbuomwan will continue to handle the minutes that would have gone to Johnson, with the former sticking in the starting lineup.
  • BKN Power Forward #26
Drew Timme accounted for 13 points (4-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 11 rebounds, six assists and three three-pointers in 29 minutes in Thursday’s loss to the Hawks.
Timme finished Thursday’s defeat with his second double-double, and he’s hit double figures in points in five of his seven appearances with the Nets. With Brooklyn being severely shorthanded in the frontcourt, the undrafted rookie out of Gonzaga will have opportunities to produce in the team’s final two games. That’s also the case for Tosan Evbuomwan, who added 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three three-pointers in 28 minutes off the bench. He and Timme are worth a look in deep leagues for Friday, as Cameron Johnson and Day’Ron Sharpe are out.
  • BKN Power Forward #20
Day’Ron Sharpe (hamstring) is questionable to play against the Wizards on Wednesday.
Sharpe injured his left hamstring last week, but it didn’t force him to miss any games. However, this is Brooklyn’s first back-to-back since then, and he may remain sidelined. With Trendon Watford out already, they may have to rely on small ball lineups if Sharpe can’t suit up.
  • BKN Small Forward #2
Cameron Johnson (ankle) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Wizards.
Johnson will be back after missing the team’s last six games with a right ankle sprain. He’ll likely make an immediate return to the starting lineup, which will push either Jalen Wilson or Ziaire Williams back to the bench and leave fewer minutes for reserves like Tosan Evbuomwan and Tyrese Martin.
  • BKN Point Guard #1
D’Angelo Russell (left hamstring tightness injury management) and Ziaire Williams will be sidelined for Wednesday’s matchup with Phoenix.
D’Lo and Williams will join a slew of other Nets players on the sidelines, and Brooklyn will roll out a skeleton crew against the visiting Suns on Wednesday. Guys like Keon Johnson, Tyrese Martin, Noah Clowney and Tosan Evbuomwan should see increased run.
  • BKN Power Forward #20
Day’Ron Sharpe is questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Thunder due to a right eye injury.
Sharpe is over the illness that kept him sidelined Wednesday, but he apparently picked up an eye injury in Friday’s matchup with the Lakers. If he’s sidelined, Tosan Evbuomwan could see increased run.
  • BKN Small Forward #12
Tosan Evbuomwan shot 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Friday’s loss to the Lakers, recording a stat line of 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.
Evbuomwan has reached double figures in five of his last six outings. For extended periods of Friday’s game, he was tasked with defending LeBron James, including during “clutch time.” Evbuomwan held his own, but he still isn’t at the point where he can be rostered in most fantasy leagues. He’ll look to produce another double-digit scoring effort on Sunday when the Nets visit the Thunder.
