Michigan State sophomore WR Tre Mosley (leg) and senior TE Matt Dotson (undisclosed) are not available for Saturday’s game vs. Indiana.
Mosley (6'2/200) injured his leg during the Spartans’ season opening loss to Rutgers, and he has not appeared in a game since. As for Dotson, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound senior has been out since suffering an injury during Michigan State’s October 31 win over Michigan. With Dotson sidelined, Michigan State hasn’t made much use of the tight end position in the passing game. Wideouts Jayden Reed, Jalen Nailor and Ricky White have been the Spartans’ top options.

Michigan State sophomore WR Tre Mosley is considered to be day-to-day after suffering a leg injury during this past weekend’s loss to Rutgers.
Mosley (6'2/200) left the Rutgers game in the third quarter, and at the time of his exit he was responsible for one reception and 11 receiving yards. Not having the sophomore would leave the Spartans down a potential weapon, especially with Michigan likely to focus much of its efforts defensively on Jayden Reed. Reed was one of Michigan State’s lone positives against the Scarlet Knights, as he caught 11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Michigan State freshman WR Tre Mosley caught eight passes for 73 yards in Saturday’s 19-16 win over Maryland.
Mosley caught three passes on Michigan State’s final go-ahead drive. Just as he was on that drive, Mosley was a beacon of safety and consistency throughout the game. Mosley had more receptions than any other player in the game. Mosley’s eight receptions on the day nearly matched his season total heading into the day, nine receptions.

Michigan State freshman WR Tre Mosley said last week that he feels comfortable with the team’s playbook at this point in the process.
Mosley (6'2/191) was one of Michigan State’s early enrollees, and that decision has paid dividends for the freshman when it comes to his knowledge of the Spartan offense. And WR coach Don Treadwell has been able to see the difference. “When you see him in camp, you can see (improvement),” Treadwell said of Mosley according to SpartanMag.com’s Paul Konynydk. “One of the things you have to do as a freshman is learn how to play faster. When you’re thinking, you have a tendency to shift a gear down, which is where he was in the spring. Now, he’s more comfortable understanding what his role is and his job is as a receiver. He is starting to play faster.” What Mosley’s role will be this season remains to be seen, as Michigan State can play him up to four games before having to make a decision regarding a possible redshirt.

Michigan State freshman WR Tre Mosley could be a factor in the team’s wideout rotation, according to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic.
Mosley (6'2/191) was an early enrollee, joining the Michigan State program in January, and during the spring had the look of a player capable of contributing. “He’s viewed as a polished route runner for his age and has the look of a future fixture at the position. I think he’s the guy to watch at receiver,” Pouncy wrote. Sophomore Jalen Nailor, who managed to score three touchdowns last season, projects to be a starter with junior Cody White also entrenched atop the depth chart. Behind those two, Mosley is one pass-catcher who could step forward and earn important reps this fall.
