Dolphins signed OLB Tyrone Holmes, formerly of the AAF’s San Antonio Commanders.
Dolphins also added elite pass-rusher Jayrone Elliott Monday. A former FCS Player of the Year, Holmes was previously selected in the sixth-round in 2016 by the Jaguars before failing to make the team’s final 53-man roster.

    Jaguars waived DE Tyrone Holmes.
Holmes recovered a fumble in Thursday’s preseason finale but it wasn’t enough to crack the 53-man roster. The sixth-round pick is undersized for a defensive end but should be able to find a practice squad gig.

Jaguars signed No. 181 overall pick DE Tyrone Holmes.
Holmes led all of FCS football with 18 sacks for Montana last season, but is under-sized at 6-foot-2, 253 pounds. That’s Michael Sam-esque. Holmes is a better athlete than Sam, but still figures to max out as a situational pass rusher, if he’s lucky.

Jaguars selected Montana DE Tyrone Holmes with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
Holmes (6'2/253) was an undersized but prolific defensive end for the Grizzlies, logging 47 career tackles for loss and 34.5 sacks. He led all of FCS in sacks (18) as a senior. Holmes flew under the radar among NFL scouts until his March 21 Pro Day, where he blazed 4.59 with 28 bench-press reps and an explosive 37 1/2-inch vertical. Holmes needs to learn how to convert his speed into power and has a lot of mechanical work to do, but there are intriguing edge-rush traits here.
